Fern is living in the big city, trying to distance herself from the family business she was always expected to take over and instead pave her own path. Then she spends an impromptu, unforgettable 24 hours with a stranger, with plans to meet again one year later.
Except that reunion never happens.
Fast-forward 10 years. Shortly after losing her only parent, Fern finds herself back at the one place she never pictured herself returning to. And suddenly, someone from those unforgettable 24 hours is back in her life too.

Ugh. UGH.
I wanted to like this one more!
I typically love a Carley Fortune book, so my expectations were probably pretty high going in. Unfortunately, Meet Me at the Lake took me AWHILE to get into, and even when it finally picked up for me, I was still left feeling a little…meh.
Maybe I made things worse by reading this right after a book I loved? Possibly.
The premise was there. The potential was there. I just kept waiting to get completely sucked into the story, and it never happened.
Was it bad? No.
Would I tell you not to read it? Also no.
Was it my favorite Carley Fortune book? Definitely not.
Happy reading,
B&BL
