How I Read 50+ Books a Year While Working Full-Time (+ Mom Duties)

Somehow, the calendar fills up while the TBR list keeps growing. I know the feeling of wanting to read just one more chapter and wondering where those quiet minutes are supposed to come from.

The majority of my page-turning happens when I stay up way too late reading. You too?

I downloaded the Kindle app on my phone, and that’s how I read the majority of my books. I get asked, “Don’t you want something with a bigger screen?” And honestly? I don’t want another device! If you’re like me, your phone is usually not far away anyway. I love being able to read a couple of pages here and there during a busy day without having to tote around one more thing or, worse, realizing I left it at home.

I used to love having a physical book in my hands, but once I realized how accessible reading became on my phone, it quickly became my primary way to read. On the occasion that I can’t get a book through Libby quickly or find it on Kindle+, I’ll request a physical copy from my library.

But then I can’t read in the shower.

Yes, you read that correctly. I prop my phone up on the shelf and occasionally take a longer shower than necessary because I’m reading.

I don’t read all these books because I’m trying to win some kind of competition. I read because it brings me joy and gives me a reprieve from everyday stressors. Do I probably undo some of those benefits by staying up way too late reading? Yes. So I can’t exactly recommend that part to you…but sometimes you just can’t stop in the middle of a good book.
